Addressing Cannabis Use Disorder in Primary Care Settings- A Lifespan Approach (1 credit hour)
Program Summary: This course examines the diagnosis and treatment of cannabis use disorder using a lifespan approach. The course explores cannabis use during each developmental stage and reviews risk factors, symptom presentation, treatment needs, and harm trajectories. The course provides diagnostic criteria for CUD using the DSM-5-TR. Evidence based treatments for patients with CUD include cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, contingency management, family interventions, and integrated treatment for co-occurring disorders.
This course is recommended for social workers, counselors, and therapists and is appropriate for beginning and intermediate levels of practice.
