Program Summary: \u00a0<\/strong>This course examines post-traumatic stress disorder in veterans. Using concept analysis, (a method for understanding complex ideas), three defining attributes for PTSD in veterans are identified: \u00a0intrusive memories of traumatic events, feelings of isolation and estrangement, and negative cognitions. \u00a0DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, screening tools, and treatments are explored. \u00a0Three trauma-focused psychotherapies are discussed: \u00a0Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).<\/p>\n

This course is recommended for social workers, counselors, and therapists and is appropriate for beginning and intermediate levels of practice.<\/p>\n
