Addressing Domestic Violence in Immigrant Communities: Critical Issues for Culturally Competent Services (1 Credit Hour)

Program Summary:   This course explores the issue of domestic violence in immigrant communities and offers considerations for increasing culturally competent services. Immigrant women are a diverse group and experience domestic violence in many different contexts but they also frequently share common experiences when domestic violence is involved.  Issues of immigration status, financial resources, community, family, and social isolation are considered.

Violence During Pregnancy and the Postpartum Period (1 Credit Hour)

Program Summary:  This course discusses the critical concern of violence during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and includes a discussion of research findings, risk factors, and implications for practice.
