The Role of Social Workers in the Disproportionality of African American Students in Special Education (1 Credit Hour)

Program Summary:  This course examines the overrepresentation of African American students in special education using Patricia Collins’ Domains-of-Power framework .  The course explores how school social workers can make a difference with their unique knowledge of a student’s social environment.

Program Summary:  This course offers guidance to child welfare and adoption professionals who work with the LGBT community.  It examines the strengths of prospective LGBT adoptive parents and the unique challenges that they face.
